Hotel KAN-RAKU Akita Kawabata

The breakfast was great, and I’d happily stay here again if I return to Akita. The rooms are small, as is typical for a Japanese business hotel, but mine was complete and comfortable, with toiletries like lotion, shampoo, conditioner and a toothbrush, as well as a fridge and safe. After a tiring day, you can use the mini onsen, which stays open until midnight. The hotel is far from the station, though nearby bus stops make the trip back accessible. The red brick museum and Akita folk center (kanto festival) museum are within walking distance.

Good value for the money, and we were quite satisfied with everything. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from the station. That isn’t especially close, but I wouldn’t call it far either. The location works well for the nightlife area near the river, with plenty of bars, restaurants and a few convenience stores nearby.

The bed and pillows were super comfortable, and the helpful staff made this a lovely stay. The onsen was great for freshening up after a hot day of sightseeing. The hotel was easy to find, with restaurants nearby, though I would have appreciated better advance notice that parking at nearby lots costs extra. The room was small. A room meant for two really only fits one person comfortably, but that seems typical in this country.

The room was tiny, but clean, decent and modern. There’s a small onsen on the ground floor, which is nice in theory, though it can get crowded. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the station. Since a lot of things in Akita City are near the station, we spent a long time walking back and forth. The pillows weren’t comfortable, and we couldn’t ask for extras.
