APA Hotel Aomori Ekihigashi

The room was very small, but since we were only there for one night, it worked out. We hadn't realized how quickly we'd get there from the train station, but we made it work. The staff were AMAZING. We arrived late and had been double booked, so they called another hotel in the same chain to let them know for us.

The room was fine otherwise, and the women on staff were pleasant. In the double-bed room, though, there's no space to sit in the chair at the desk, so it isn't usable. I booked for a few nights, then wanted to extend my stay after coming down with a cold. Reception said the hotel was sold out, so I went online and booked one of the many rooms that were available. When I went to swap my key, I saw a card on the desk with my information and “American” written in red for my nationality. I'm assuming that's why the male receptionist had turned down my extension.

The breakfast was mostly Japanese, just what I was hoping for, and had lots of options. The chef at the buffet was especially friendly, always greeting guests with a smile. The hotel is a bit vintage, but well kept and clean, with plenty of amenities. My room was very comfortable as a solo traveler. It's close to the train and bus station, tourist center, and Shin-machi shopping and restaurant district, so I'd recommend it if you're staying in central Aomori. APA hotel has good value for money.

We hadn't booked ahead, and this was the only hotel in the area that could take us. The staff were friendly, and the small room was clean and had the necessary amenities. Use the APA Group app to get the lowest rates.
