Toyoko Inn Aomori Ekimae

The rooms were clean and roomy, depending on which type you book, and my stay included breakfast. It’s close to Aomori Main Station, which is especially handy for flying. A paid shuttle from the bus station to the airport costs 980 yen one way.

Breakfast was solid, and the prices were low. The rooms are large, the location is great, and the service is friendly.

We booked a non-smoking room but were put on a smoking floor, and the smell was awful. They said no other rooms were available. The room was tiny, and the bed was rock-hard, with a mattress at most three inches thick, not a futon. The free breakfast was terrible for a Western guest. I’d think twice before booking Toyoko Inn again. You can find a better hotel for the same price.

The free breakfast was a real help on mornings when I was heading out early, and it filled me up. My room was fine, I slept well, and the Wi-Fi worked smoothly. I booked four nights through expedia. Getting there from the JR train station took less than five minutes, and the JR shuttle buses and public bus stop are between the station and hotel. Check-in was seamless: they looked up my booking using my passport details, and the room key came out. It met my simple needs, and I don’t have any negative feedback.
