The coast view is the one thing I liked here. The place is dirty, musty even by Izu standards, and badly maintained. It has clearly seen better days. The in-room onsen had hair in it, and the water didn't seem fresh or clean. Guests can't control it: staff apparently turn it on at 3pm and leave it running. We asked them to switch it off at 8, when they leave, but they went at 6:30 instead, cutting our time short. I suppose otherwise it would run all night, which would probably be noisy. The onsen also made the room damp, and the ventilation fan didn't work well. The carpet was stained and needs a deep clean, and the couch was torn up. The mini-split AC/heater barely worked. We were there in late October during chilly, rainy weather, and the heater didn't warm the room much, so we were cold all night. Breakfast was western-style: eggs that were pretty good, underwhelming weenies, bland macaroni salad drizzled with ketchup, and limp croissants. For this price, I expected a cleaner, better maintained property.
