Grandia Housen

The shabu shabu wagyu dinner came with a lot of meat, vegetables, noodles, and more. It’s a good choice if you enjoy hot pot and want a special dining experience. Breakfast had a huge range of food too. The lobby also offers all kinds of hot, cold, and alcoholic drinks, plus snacks, and there’s a shop on the entrance floor. We had a spacious room with a beautiful view and a private onsen bath. It came with all the amenities we needed. Just be aware that there are lots of insects and mosquitoes outside the private onsen at night. The room had insect spray and a diffuser, though the spray didn’t help much. We booked the hotel’s free shuttle from Awaraonsen station in advance through its site. The staff were amazing: polite, kind, and helpful. They showed us around the hotel and its facilities and were always ready to answer questions. We really enjoyed our stay.

I came back to Fukura at Grandia Housen for a second visit and finally had to write a review. My first time was at the buffet; this time I chose the Wagyu Shabu-shabu Course Menu, and I was just as satisfied. Whichever restaurant you pick at Grandia Housen, the experience and service seem consistently top-notch. The Wagyu was heavenly and melted in my mouth. The food was presented so beautifully that I kept taking pictures, but it tasted as good as it looked. The staff were warm, attentive, and friendly, and their genuine hospitality made dinner feel special. For a luxury hot pot meal in Japan, I fully recommend this place. 10/10!

The building looks quite old, but it’s been renovated and kept up well. Everything else was great, though the onsen water quality was just alright. It didn’t feel much like an onsen to me, more like a hot tub, probably because it was diluted.

We stayed in Villa Kotobuki, which has an open-air bath, and had delicious local specialties for both breakfast and dinner. My husband and I had a wonderful time at Grandia Housen. The receptionist also helped us plan daytime sightseeing, which we appreciated. Everything was excellent, and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys Japanese culture.
