I stopped here during a road trip because I needed a break, a shower, and a beer. The onsen water is salty, with two different heat levels in the indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor one has a great sea view and sunset, and the lobby has lovely views too. The hotel itself looks more like a hostel.
The quality was just so-so. I won't be coming back.

The food was good, and despite the hot spring being a bit lukewarm, I had a good stay overall. I came in February hoping to see the square sun, but the ice on Lake Odaitonuma had already melted, so I couldn't see it.
I came for a day visit in mid-May 2025 and returned in late September. If I lived close by, I'd want to come back often. Admission is 600 yen, with shampoo and other toiletries supplied. There are seven washing stations, each with a set of amenities. The old building is kept very clean, and the taps at the washing stations look newly replaced. The counter is often empty, so you ring the pager on the desk to call the proprietress and pay. Coming from the Rausu side, I don't remember seeing signs, so the nearby campsite may be a useful landmark. The sodium chloride spring is clear brown, darker than black, a bit like the transparent black plastic sheets sold at hardware stores. Its lovely scent fills the bathhouse and really gives the place a hot spring feel. There are two baths, one slightly hot indoor pool and an open-air bath at about 40°C looking toward the Notsuke Peninsula. No sauna.
