House Kira

The owner's thoughtfulness came through again, just like on my last visit. This time, three of us stayed on a business trip, and the location worked really well. From the moment you enter, there's a hotel-lobby kind of scent and everything feels clean. Downstairs, the open living room has a table and six chairs, with plenty of space for a family trip. I especially like relaxing in the tatami Japanese-style room ^ ^. Upstairs are four rooms, and the mattresses all look comfortable. The ocean is only a short walk away. After snorkeling, you can come in through the back door and go to the bathroom while still wet, so the layout is really practical. It's the kind of inn I'd want to use any time of year, peak season or not.

The owner was friendly and happy to answer questions, which put us at ease. The price was reasonable, and I think the condo offers a lot. It felt homey and relaxing, with two bright, spacious floors rather than a hotel feel. Everything was well looked after and clean, including the kitchen and bathroom, and there's Wi-Fi. Families with little kids will appreciate the high chairs and cribs, plus the rounded furniture designed to reduce the chance of serious injury if a child bumps into it. The appliances felt new and the place was well equipped, with a fridge, washer, dryer, detergent and fabric softener, all useful for a stay of several nights. The gas dryer got clothes dry much faster than an electric one. The toaster is a BALMUDA. We tried bagels from a nearby bagel shop the owner recommended, toasted them, and they were delicious. The ocean is close enough for snorkeling and diving when the waves are calm, or surfing when they're strong. Chatan is in central Okinawa, near American Village, and it's easy to get around the rest of the area. There are good restaurants and all kinds of activities within a 10-minute drive. I'd definitely stay here again.
