Funagoya Onsen Higuchiken

The supper and breakfast were both beautiful!

Really nice hotel, and lovely people.

The hot springs are open as long as you like, and this peaceful stretch of time is just right. After only two hours, I already felt very satisfied, especially with such wonderful service, the best I've experienced. Dinner tasted good and the dishes looked lovely, though the portions were modest and the meal itself didn't stand out much. The soy sauce on the pretty wooden table tasted weak, which I think was the customer's fault. I'm ready to enjoy the rest of my stay through tomorrow!

I came across this riverside hotel while looking for a nearby hot spring I hadn't tried before, through the Fukuoka Weekday Travel Special. The place is lovely and relaxing, and from the room balcony you can watch both sunrise and sunset. In the morning, there were lots of birds flying around, egrets or maybe spoonbills. The bath here is indoors only. Its water is clear, light, and thick. I have severe knee, joint, and shoulder pain from my job, but after waking up I felt my range of motion had improved quite a bit. I'm grateful for that. I also visited nearby Koibotaru, a bicarbonate hot spring with brown water and a very distinctive smell, and drank from a nearby mineral spring that was slightly carbonated, so those may have helped too. I really liked this hotel and will come back. Thank you.
