I had my fill of tasty crab dishes at this place by the Sea of Japan.

From the outside, I didn't expect the guest room to be so nicely renovated. At dinner, the sashimi platter was enormous, the biggest I've ever seen. A group of women might find it hard to finish it all.

For about 40,000 yen, I booked a package that included crab with a tag. The meal was sparse, and when the next course didn't arrive, I had to ask the staff about it. It wasn't worth the price. I'd rather go to an all-you-can-eat crab buffet. Breakfast was barely more than vegetarian fare. The room was clean despite being old, but the bathroom water was either scalding or icy, with no way to get a comfortable temperature, and the TV remote's batteries were dead. Too many things went wrong. I won't be back.

They even gave us containers to take crab home in, which we really appreciated. We also got to use the hot springs in the main building, so we could soak twice. As for the meal, it felt like a year's worth of crab: Echizen crab, grilled crab, crab sashimi, crab gratin, chawanmushi, and rice porridge to finish. A fantastic inn. Thank you!

The alkaline hot springs feel wonderfully smooth, warm you up, and leave your skin silky. The staff are cheerful and friendly, so ask them if you need advice, whether it's about eating boiled crab or finding nearby hot springs. When I came back after a long time, the place had become an annex of Heisei Ryokan and the facilities had been renovated. The toilets were especially spacious and comfortable, with bidets and handrails. This time I ordered the crab leg-breaking course. The generous meal was as good as ever, and Fukui's travel support program made it possible to enjoy tagged crabs at a reasonable price.
