Isawa Meitokan Itoyanagi

The private dinner was a highlight, with nine courses, horse sashimi to try, and a sake tasting. We also loved having a private onsen for our family, and the breakfast was unbelievable. The Japanese-style rooms were beautiful, and the hot stone spa was another lovely part of the stay. It was the best experience we’ve ever had. We’d like to come back in a few years, and would recommend staying at least one night, or better yet, the weekend, to enjoy everything. Best wishes from a German family.

The food was marvellous, and the room’s onsen was a real plus. The hot stone treatment was a great way to detox, too. It’s a traditional Japanese-style hotel with some modern touches. The staff were lovely and helpful from arrival to departure. They even made sure we got safely out of the car park when we were driving. The owner served tea during the breakfast buffet and was a very friendly gentleman. You can spot his life-size display at the entrance to the breakfast restaurant. This was a grand finale for our family’s ten days of travel in Japan. Definitely coming back. Five stars or more!

My dad lost his appetite for breakfast after finding a tissue in his soup. We told the staff, who said they’d look into what happened, but I still haven’t heard back about the incident. I understand that people make mistakes, but I can’t accept the way the hotel treated us. So disappointing.
