We were meant to spend two nights here on our November honeymoon, but the building lost power on the evening we were due to check in. The public baths were closed at first, then reopened later that night. We were initially told to find somewhere else, but chose to stay one night instead, even though our room had no power. La Vista looked after us very well during that night. They gave us drinks on the house, extra blankets and pocket warmers, and refunded the full accommodation cost of $1750 AUD. Their service was impeccable, so I have to give them five stars for how they handled it. If everything had gone as planned, though, I think we’d have been disappointed. You’re paying for the room view and the hotel’s location. The view was nice, but I’m not sure the price is justified. The French-Japanese fusion dinner wasn’t really to our taste, and the public baths felt average for the price, although a private bath was available. If cost doesn’t matter and you want to pay for the view, I’d recommend it. For good value, I’d look elsewhere.
We had a double room facing My Fuji, and the view was phenomenal. This is one of the best-view hotels in the Kawaguchiko area. Dinner cost about 11K JPY per person and was served in a luxurious French style. Since we were there for New Year, the hotel kept up the traditions with toshikoshi soba at midnight and Osechi for breakfast. The Concierge spoke English and was super helpful with suggestions for sunrise and sunset spots. The onsen had different kinds of private rooms, and the stone bath was my favourite. Plan ahead for dinner if you don’t want to eat at the hotel, since everything around there closes by 6pm. Reservations are a good idea. The staff were courteous and did their best for guests. I felt embarrassed, as an Indian, by the behavior of another guest, a woman with family who may have been from North India or Pakistan. She yelled and threatened to leave a poor rating, didn’t make an effort to communicate through translation, and seemed not to have read the clearly posted instructions. Her behavior came across as entitled and rude. As a traveller, patience, courtesy, and adaptability matter. If you can’t manage those, I’d ask you not to travel to a country like Japan, which I think is the best in the world for customer service.
The top-floor view over Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi was breathtaking, from sunrise through sunset. Our twin room was spacious, cozy, and comfortable, with a private bathroom. We booked breakfast and dinner too, and it was excellent value for the package. This is a fantastic resort hotel. The staff were friendly, polite, attentive, and responsible. I highly recommend it.
The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the hotel made our stay feel special with lots of complimentary treats. We had snacks in the room, wine when we arrived, more snacks in the evening, and small servings of ramen late at night. I’m not sure if they always offer all of this, but it was lovely. Guests can also use a private themed bath for free, and the hotel shuttle to and from Kawaguchiko Station made getting around easy. An unbelievable place, with top-tier rooms, service, and perks. Five stars doesn’t do it justice. Thanks for such a wonderful stay. We’ll definitely come back.
For our first visit to Lake Kawaguchiko, we chose this hotel for two nights and were so glad we did. It sits a little higher than the other hotels nearby, which gives you a fantastic view of Mount Fuji on sunny days. The thoughtful touches made our stay comfortable: chairs in the elevator, a lounge with complimentary drinks and snacks before dinner, and free ramen at night. Breakfast had a great variety of delicious options and left us very full. The people here made a real difference. Mr. Kawai, the shuttle driver, quickly returned my brother’s phone after he left it on the bus. Mr. Masahiro Narita made check-in smooth, friendly, and thorough, and Ms. Mitsuka at reception was cheerful and attentive. Mr. Ishi Hirano in the restaurant also made a lasting impression during our French-style dinner on the first night. He was friendly and professional, knew the ingredients in depth, and introduced each dish with real passion. We were happy to see him again later. Ms. Kumiko Kobayashi went out of her way to help arrange a sunrise tour, finding six companies for us, and a private car for the next day. She was polite, attentive, and clearly put our needs first. The staff, amenities, and views made this a perfect family stay. I’d give it a solid 10/10. Thank you for making it such a wonderful experience!
