Our room and cottage were excellent, as were the service and food. Since we traveled by train and don't speak Japanese, the host personally helped us, which meant we could still explore the surrounding area. We hope to make the trip again.

It rained during our stay, so we'd love to try again in summer or winter and see if we can catch the starry sky. We came as a family of four, including an elementary school student and a 3-year-old. The room was clean and very comfortable. The food was the real standout, generous and delicious, and it was hard to pick a favorite. They thoughtfully chose dishes the children could eat, which we really appreciated. We were sorry the kids couldn't manage much, probably because they were tired and nervous from the trip.

Meals are generous, with local produce like homemade sausages and local strawberries. The seasoning was a little light. Dinner is at 6:20pm and breakfast at 8:00am. This pension is in Fujimi's pension district. Unlike many pensions where you mainly sleep in your room and relax in a shared area, there are plenty of rooms here, so you can unwind in your room and use the shared space just for meals. The bathroom is spacious, bookable for private use, and extremely clean. I'm grateful they keep it spotless. The room has a fluffy, comfortable bed, a washlet toilet, Nespresso machine, and refrigerator, so comfort-wise I had no complaints. There is also a large 4K TV that works with Apple TV. Bring Blu-ray or digital content from home and you can display your phone screen on it, so you won't be bored.

We chose the cottage and came for my girlfriend's birthday, mainly for the food. I can think of no particular negatives, and hope these details are useful. The cottage was a relaxing place to spend a cold, rainy day. It had a sunken kotatsu, a large TV, and powerful speakers, so we could watch movies and streaming services in the warmth. The meal included seasonal Yatsugatake vegetables and meat and fish carefully chosen by the owner, along with a creative soba dish that fit in with the Nagano cuisine. There was a good variety of delicious dishes. I think they can accommodate allergies if you contact the owner ahead of time. They also made a whole homemade cake as an extra. It was light and easy to eat, not heavy at all. For couples who love food, I recommend ordering one as a birthday surprise. There were lots of other good points too. Couples who enjoy good food and relaxing in a cottage would be my personal recommendation.
