Breakfast was genuinely tasty, and the free self-service laundry is a big plus: there are six washers and dryers on the first floor. Each floor also has a coffee and tea machine available 24 hours a day, plus a microwave. A few things were awkward. The bathroom sink is very low for washing hands or brushing teeth, and the small, round toilet wasn't comfortable. There's no bottled water in the room, perhaps because of the coffee machine, and the mugs are tiny, so you'll probably want to buy water.

The buffet breakfast had lots of Japanese and Western choices, and the rooms were roomy enough to open two suitcases at once. The onsen was indoors, but quite small. It's a hip, modern-style hotel near Hakata Station.

The room is a bit tight for someone big and tall, though I could still move around. Breakfast was pretty good, with both Japanese and Western dishes. Guests can use the self-service laundry for free, and the coffee and hot cocoa are free and good quality. The spa is small but clean.

I wish there were an electric kettle in the room. Having to go out to the lift lobby for warm water in the middle of the night isn't what I want.

This was my regular spot when it first opened. Even with the yen being expensive back then, it felt reasonable and was very well run. It's slipped from its glory days now, with competition from places like Blossom and Dormy Inn. Still decent, just maybe not the value it used to be.
