Kei Hotel Like Residence

The room was surprisingly good, and the location was okay. It's an unstaffed hotel, but I'd stay again at the right price.

Our four-person room cost 5,600 yen a night, but it felt small even for a guesthouse. We had to turn sideways to get past one another, and there was only a small spot by the entrance to collect dust. Since shoes weren't allowed on the carpet, going in and out was awkward. Noise carried clearly from both next door and outside. It's an unmanned guesthouse, and getting around was inconvenient too: it isn't near a subway station, and buses in Fukuoka don't run often.

The place felt a little intimidating at first, but it got much easier once I was used to it. It's really comfortable and spacious by Japanese accommodation standards, and the cleanest place I've stayed. There's a convenience store nearby, and Hakata Station is around a 15-minute walk away.

The room was clean, had what I needed, and didn't smell unpleasant. The bathroom had heating, and there was also a washing machine and refrigerator. I was there for five days and didn't see guests of other nationalities. The hotline had staff who could help in Mandarin, Japanese, and English. This was my first guesthouse stay, and compared with a hotel I missed housekeeping, the option to extend checkout, and somewhere to leave my luggage for a while. The nearest subway station is about a 15-minute walk.
