Hotel Double Funabashi

We paid 32,637 yen ($212 USD) for one night, including a 6,157 yen ($40 USD) discount through booking.com. For a one-star hotel, that felt like poor value, especially after the problems we had. We wouldn’t recommend staying here. Check-in was quick and easy, and the lobby had a nice selection of free grab-and-go items, including face masks, shea butter lotions, combs, and more. The hallways smelled noticeable, though it wasn’t overwhelming. Our room smelled much worse, stale, dusty, and moldy. The large bed sagged in the middle, which you could see before getting in, and was unbelievably uncomfortable. The sheets felt scratchy, and the pillows and mattress had an obvious yellow tint. Turning on the AC made the smell worse and immediately bothered our sinuses, so we shut it off. The unit seemed dirty or moldy and was clearly contributing to the odor. We felt itchy in the room, as if it wasn’t clean. The air purifier and humidifier didn’t help with the smell. The window was frosted, so it let in light but offered no view, and it couldn’t be opened. There were lots of face and body care products, including unscented ones, plus a refrigerator and microwave. The hot water had strong pressure and stayed consistently hot. Early in the morning, cigarette smoke completely filled our non-smoking room. It was unbearable, and the exhaust fan couldn’t clear it quickly enough. Even though checkout wasn’t until 11:00, we packed up and left as soon as we could. We just couldn’t stay in that room any longer.
