Kuretake Inn Gotemba I.C.

This was a terrible experience. We needed a place to stay overnight and saw an available room on Jalan, so we went to the hotel. We arrived at night on 3/8. When the woman at the counter realized we didn’t have a reservation, she said there were no rooms. We asked why rooms were listed online, and she changed her answer to ask whether we wanted a double or single room. When we tried to confirm, she suddenly said there were no rooms after all. I decided to book directly through Jalan. The website didn’t say that this option was only for people living in Japan, and the online reservation went through successfully. Even after that, the woman at the counter still refused to let us check in. Her attitude was the worst we’ve encountered.

Even though I booked a non-smoking room, it reeked of cigarettes. I couldn’t breathe all night, and opening the windows barely helped. The hotel was filthy and disgusting.

There’s parking, vending machines in the lobby, and a big collection of Mangas. Across the street is a supermarket, 7 Eleven, with an ATM. The room was large enough for me alone by European standards, and lovely for two. The hotel is okay. I didn’t have breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. Make sure you avoid a smoker room if that bothers you.

Good price, spacious enough, and close to the IC. Breakfast is free, and you can enjoy the Onsen too. Convenience stores are just down the next road. I’d visit again!
