I’d booked a room with a shared bathroom, but the staff upgraded me to one with an en suite at no extra cost. They also provided loads of toiletries, from towels, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and mouthwash to cleansing oil, face wash, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and a razor. When I checked out, the owner gave me a pack of snacks. Thanks so much for having me at your pension.

We stayed in a Japanese style room with a private bathroom, which felt like a new and relaxing experience. The staff were kind and friendly, and even offered snacks for our long train ride ahead. A comfortable, authentic pension in Hakodate.

We stayed here in 2023 and booked a twin room with a private bathroom. It was clean and, though not spacious, had enough room for us. The owner was lovely. The guesthouse is 400m from the train station and 600m from Hakodate morning market. There’s no elevator, so taking large bags upstairs could be a bit of a struggle.

The owner’s cats were adorable, and we could sometimes hear them faintly at night from the second floor. The staff were super friendly, and the decorations made this a really cute place. Our room was clean and a reasonable size for the price, a good fit for a budget trip. There’s free parking at the side, a microwave in the lobby, and a mini fridge in the rooms. The shared washrooms had lots of amenities, including shampoo and face cleanser. No elevator, which only really matters if you’ve got a lot of luggage. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
