Asuka Lodge

A clean, pleasant hotel with nice staff and a really good breakfast. It's a great base for a ski trip, with the Happo One lift reachable from here. Parking is available, but make sure your rental has snow tires and four-wheel drive.

We came as two family groups, and the Quad rooms worked perfectly for us. Everyone on staff was lovely and helpful, and the place has a real family feel. Breakfast was great, as was having a cuppa in the lounge. The location was great too. Thank you for a wonderful stay at Asuka Lodge.

Yachiyo went out of her way to help us ship our snow gear to the airport and with translations, and the whole team was friendly, communicative, and ready to help. She also picked us up from the train station at no extra charge and recommended some great places to eat. Justin made our departure easy too. Asuka Lodge is right by the gondola, with ski-in, ski-out access and beautiful mountain views. The daily breakfast was excellent, with Ethan cooking each morning. There’s an onsen for unwinding after the slopes and a dedicated spot for snowboard and boot gear. The showers and toilets are shared, but even near the end of snow season we didn’t have to wait long. We had an amazing stay and can’t wait to come back.

Yachiyo helped us sort restaurant bookings before we arrived, return train tickets, and black cat luggage transfers. Her local knowledge was much appreciated. Justin and Clare were also so friendly, handling arrival and departure pickups and drop-offs, plus rides to Lawson. All the staff were helpful. We stayed in late January, and the location made skiing easy: the gondola and a lift are close by, the ski school is nearby, and you can ski almost back to the lodge, across the road. It was very clean, with comfortable common rooms and plenty of space for games, reading, or watching TV. Breakfast had cereal, yoghurt, fruit, juice, tea, coffee, and a different hot dish each day.
