Chalet Setsugekka

The huge snowfall was amazing: 90cm of fresh powder in 48 hours. With the heated driveway, the kids had plenty of time to sled all over the generous yard, instead of me having them shovel. The property managers were quick to respond and helped with my questions about the Japanese appliances. We also appreciated the regular trash pickup and linen changes. We spent five nights at Chalet Setsugekka in Hakuba during our February break, and our family of five felt at home as soon as we arrived. The cozy furniture, blankets, decorations, and thoughtful touches made it easy to settle in. Downstairs had two quiet, private bedrooms, with a bunk room upstairs. The open-plan living area upstairs got lovely southern light and had beautiful mountain views. I especially loved having coffee on the balcony as the sunrise turned the mountains pink. It was set up so well for a ski trip. The entrance had a big drying area, and with the door shut and the heater and dehumidifier on, everything was warm and dry by morning. The kitchen had all the dishes, cutlery, glassware, and appliances we needed for cooking most of our meals, plus a full-size fridge. The internet was lightning fast too. We hated leaving and are already hoping to return in another season to make more family memories.
