Goryu Escal Plaza is only a three-minute walk away, so getting to the Nagano bus and the slopes is easy. You can also get discounted snowboard passes and rentals through the guesthouse. The owners are very nice and communicate well by email; auto-translate works nicely, and their English is easy enough to understand even though they aren’t fluent. The shared showers and bathrooms stayed very clean, even in peak ski season, and we had no trouble sharing them with other guests. They provide toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and conditioner for free. Breakfast or dinner has to be included as a package when you book. There’s also a communal microwave and fridge, handy for food you bring or leftovers. I’d definitely recommend it, 10/10.

The host was great, and dinner was delicious. This is one of the best guesthouses I’ve stayed in. I was sad I couldn’t get the apple juice I’d been dreaming of, so I’ve got another reason to come back.

You can walk to Goryu in four minutes, and the location is perfect. The host is kind, and the food is even better than what you’d get at a restaurant. Just keep in mind that they only take cash.

Our kids especially loved the pastries shaped like animals and cars. Everything was freshly made, including the bread, marmalade, and other pastries. The owners cooked outstanding breakfasts and dinners, and every dinner was fantastic. This family-run pension was comfortable, and the owners were friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely return someday!
