Condominium Sunset Inn

The price is cheap, which is a plus. Still, the heating doesn’t seem suited to the size of the room, so it never gets warm, and every door is difficult to close.

The owner was really kind and helpful, and I’d definitely stay at Hakuba Sunset Inn again if I visit Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort. That resort is around a 5-10 minute drive away. I’d planned on two nights over New Year’s, but ended up spending one night in the cottage behind the pension instead. It had all the basics for a regular day’s stay. The pension is by the forest, with a slight slope in front, and I heard the Wi-Fi can cut out depending on the season.

This place seems great for families with kids, with a play area and a diaper disposal bin. It was very clean, and the private bathroom was spacious. There’s a big kitchen for making your own meals, with dishes and basic seasonings available. The breakfast sandwiches were large and delicious.

I spent every summer escaping the heat here and every winter skiing, and the owner and hostess were both so kind. I have a lot of good memories from these stays. The board games were a novelty for my junior clubmates, and some would buy the same games once they got home and play them again. I’m grateful we could come here for the university club training camps each year. I’ve since retired from the club, but I’d still like to return.
