Location: 5/5. Room: 3/5. Service: 1/5. Amenities: 3/5. There are only two rooms at this hotel, and it's in a great spot, though there aren't many restaurants nearby. I arrived at Hakuba station around 12:00 hoping to leave my luggage and walk around, but there was no staff there. I emailed the hotel and was told check-in was at 4 pm and that I could use the coin locker. The station lockers were limited and already full. If you need somewhere to leave bags, the shop next to the station also offers that service.

Lovely view from the room, and it has all the amenities. The location is superb, making it easy to walk around and explore town.

May 19-21, 2025 I really liked this place and gave it full stars because it suited us well. There are just four rooms, so it feels very private. The rooms aren't soundproof and connect to each other, which might work well for groups. Downstairs you can eat and chat in front of the station. There's a cat table, but you'll need to take your rubbish back to your room. Each room has a proper refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, glasses, hot water pot, power strip, steamer, and basic personal items. There isn't a TV, and spoons aren't supplied in the room, but those weren't necessary; spoons, chopsticks, and a few sauces are available. You can ask for utensils at the supermarket checkout too. Being right at Hakuba Station makes it easy to get here from Tokyo. The Limited Express stops there, but check the timetable carefully, as it only runs in the morning and afternoon. For other trains, change to the local line at Shinano Omachi to get to Matsumoto. The place is quiet, with only the occasional truck on a side street and not many people around, mostly students catching trains and a few tourists. There are two floors and no elevator, though the stairs aren't very steep. When you arrive, an email gives you a door code; use it to enter downstairs, then get your key from a cabinet at entrance to floor 2 and turn the lock on the handle. At checkout, leave the key on the tray in your room; you don't need to lock the door. It's not near the Happo bus station and there aren't convenience stores close by, but A-coop is 350 meters away, past Matsukiyo. I preferred it to the supermarket near the bridge because it doesn't add service charges and taxes. A laundry and dryer shop is 280 meters to the right of the station; it opens early and closes late, and costs 600-900 yen depending on the laundry weight. There are lots of good restaurants around the station. Next door is a laid-back bar that stays open late for tourists even when few people are eating there. The station also has restrooms, coin lockers, and a canned drink dispenser. Hakuba Station No. 2 is right in front of the accommodation, and buses from there go by Snow Peak, Happo Bus, and the Mt. Iwatake Gondola. The riverside park popular for photos is behind the station, and taxis are available all day. Book well ahead because this place fills up quickly. I'll definitely stay here again when I come back to Hakuba.

The window view on a clear day is the highlight, with a rare, unobstructed look at the Hakuba Sanzan mountains. I barely noticed trains from the room, and the Oito Line doesn't run very often anyway. The accommodation is on the second floor of Hakuba Station; there are two rooms, while reception and the other facilities are a two-minute walk away. Buses to the ski resorts leave from outside the station. Inside, it's designed like a business hotel, with a roomy bathroom, Wi-Fi, refrigerator, and microwave. The power strip has a USB port, and the gas stove warms the room quickly in winter.

It's on the second floor of Hakuba Station, so the location is fantastic, especially in peak season. There isn't a TV in the room, so you'll need to find another way to pass the time. Shops in front of the station close in the evening, and there aren't restaurants nearby, so pick up supplies beforehand.
