Seiryu

The lunch and bath both open at 11am, and I went for a day trip. I had soba, grilled char, and tempura made with wild greens and other vegetables, all very tasty. The bath is upstairs on the second floor, so keep the stairs in mind if getting around is difficult. I’ve usually been busier than most people, and now I’m making the most of having more freedom. At my age, I want to enjoy it while I can still get around.

The local staff were all very friendly, and the hot spring was spacious and comfortable. We visited in December 2025, before the ski resort opened, and with only one other group there it was very quiet. The building was quite cold, though. I ordered the Matsu dinner course, but couldn’t tell what part of the pine tree the picture referred to. They also served grilled hoba leaves and rice in addition to the dishes in the photo. The food tasted good, but I’d hoped for more of a Hakusan feel, and breakfast was a little disappointing. For the price, the stay didn’t meet my expectations.

I’m practically a local, and this was visit number six or seven. Since it was just after ski season, there were no other guests and I had the place to myself. The building and facilities are old, but the rooms are roomy, the hot spring is comfortable, and the food is generous and tasty.

There’s a restaurant here as well as a hot spring. The bath is simple, but the water is a comfortable temperature, and it’s an easy walk from the ski resort parking lot. Show your ski lift ticket and the 500 yen entry fee drops to 400 yen.
