Hoshino Resorts KAI Enshu

The private onsen and comfortable tatami rooms made it easy to relax at our own pace, and the meals used lovely ingredients from the area. We spent two nights away from Tokyo and this was our third KAI resort. The hospitality impressed me all over again. The team seemed to anticipate what we needed from the moment we arrived until we left, and the service was among the best I’ve experienced at any hotel or resort. I felt so pampered I could have stayed forever. The team didn’t disappoint during our short getaway. I’d happily visit another Hoshino Resort to see what else they offer.

The meals were amazing, with just the right amount and quality, and the service was wonderful. There are so many teas to sample here, which makes the tea tasting theme fun. I also found the onsen very comfortable, at just the right temperature. When I went, only one or two other people were there.

The place was lovely, and we’d come back and recommend it to tea lovers. It’s an average Hoshino Resort, with big baths, no bathtub in the rooms, and kind young staff. They’re very welcoming to kids. They even had baby tubs in the big baths, and our one-and-a-half-year-old had a great time using the little tub and shower without going in the big bath. They gave our child dinner and breakfast for free. The dinner server was really friendly and remembered our kid’s name.

There’s tea everywhere in the experience, including a can to take with you when you leave. They offer a tea matching activity before dinner, then a tea cocktail afterward, and dozens of leaves to try in the lounge or your room. In the room, there are three tea sets for different times of day, while the lounge serves a different cold tea in the morning and evening. The staff weren’t as fluent in English as at other KAI resorts, but you could still feel their omotenashi. The KAI experience was just what I expected from a tea-themed onsen resort.
