Izu Atagawa Hot Spring Family Hotel, Kaishunro

The breakfast buffet was really big, and it was included along with the hotel onsen. The staff were super nice in the dining hall and at reception. Every person we met was friendly and helpful, and we felt welcome throughout the stay. There were five of us friends, and we had an amazing room with lots of space. Everything was very clean, and the ocean view was the best. When we arrived, each of us got a beautiful Yukata. We came without expectations, but were really surprised and enjoyed our stay.

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and having unlimited drinks, including alcohol, with the meal was a nice extra. But the buffet food was cold and bland. The room felt old and worn, and even the kettle was awkward to fill because it had to be taken into the bathroom. For the price, I expected more. The sunrise over the ocean was the best part. I’d spend a little more for a nicer place in Atagawa next time.

We booked that morning and arrived in the afternoon, which was easy, and there was no extra charge for the children. The room was spacious, clean, and had an ocean view. Breakfast was good too. It’s an older place and about 1 km from the station, but still walkable. Good value for the price.

I paid 20,000¥ for one person, around US$200 for a night, which felt ridiculous for such an old hotel in desperate need of renovation. The room was dirty and had lots of dead insects. There are much better places nearby, including hotels with their own private beaches. I even suspect foreigners are charged more. It felt like they don’t respect foreign guests. Stay away from this dump.
