Hotel Flex Hiroshima

The price doesn't match what this hotel provides. During our Japan trip, we stayed in much better places for less per night. It feels stuck in the previous century and doesn't meet a 3-star standard. They need to modernize, lower their prices, or show the real state of the rooms on booking apps. On arrival we found the whole hotel extremely dirty. The bar chair cushions were stained, the hall carpet on our floor was disgusting, and our sheets and bed cover had stains and hair. We raised it with staff. At first, a gentleman said they couldn't move us because they were fully booked. He said a cleaning company came every morning and cleaned everything, so there shouldn't be health concerns when I asked for fresh sheets and covers. After some back and forth, we got clean-looking covers, but they had hair on them again. The room was quite small, which we expected in Japan, but it was dusty too. It seemed they only dusted the visible areas and didn't clean thoroughly. The TV was very small as well. We had breakfast included, but it wasn't up to standard. It was the same each morning: two slices of toast, one type of jam to choose from, a little salad, egg, and soup. There's no large indoor dining room, and the enclosed terrace with extra tables was so cold in the morning that some people were eating in their jackets.

The river view was great, and the staff were really friendly and did their best to speak English. The hotel is handy for most places in Hiroshima, just a short walk away. Rooms were decent and about as small as you'd expect in Japan. The building feels dated, and the elevator is slow.

The staff were very kind, and I thought the breakfast was nice and good even though it wasn't a buffet. They serve it on a terrace facing the trees and river, which made up for the limited, non-refillable setup. Shower products and amenities were provided. The rooms are small for the price, though that's how it is throughout Japan. They were clean overall, but could use a more thorough cleaning. It's well situated, about a 5-minute walk from the station. The Atomic Bomb Dome is around a 20-25-minute walk away, which is still doable. I recommend staying here.

The location is pretty good, within walking distance of all the main sights. The hotel itself isn't the best, though. Both the building and rooms feel quite old, and the rooms are pretty humid.
