Comfort Inn Hitachinaka

I slept well here, and honestly, I'd love to live in a room like this. The staff and service were excellent, with smiles, politeness, and courtesy. Breakfast was good: some dishes were unpleasant or salty, but around 70% of it was delicious. Among business hotels, I prefer Comfort Inn to Route Inn. I booked through Agoda with breakfast included, and the range of daily specials is great if you're staying several nights. The curry changes every day and is worth recommending. There were potato, vermicelli, and macaroni salads; five-grain rice; daily curry and a side dish; boiled sausages; and scrambled eggs. Drinks and soups included seasonal smoothies, orange juice, Fun Oolong tea, miso soup, corn soup, and beef consommé. There was a waffle iron with regular waffles, plus maple and chocolate syrups, blueberry and strawberry jams, margarine, sliced bread, and a toaster. They also had Fruitgra, chocolate crispy cookies, milk, cold water, yogurt, and fruit, either mango or pineapple depending on the day. At the front desk there’s a coffee machine with hot blend, American, and iced coffee. For the iced one, you get ice from the machine next to it first. The room has a double bed and a loft bed, which costs an extra ¥1,000 per day. For multi-night stays, guests have to take their own trash and towels to next to the room door. A comb and toothpaste are among the amenities, and a toothbrush is provided with the towels every day. There’s an extension cord, so it’s fine if there’s no outlet next to the bed as long as you bring your own charger. There are no USB Type-A connectors.

The price is affordable, the staff are kind and smile, and breakfast is tasty, plentiful, and nutritious. My room was bright and clean, with warm colors, and the bathroom was spacious. It’s a well-balanced hotel on many levels. Thanks, I’ll stay here again 😭.

We were lucky to find a room during the Obon holiday, when we couldn't get a holiday earlier. There were four of us, two adults, a middle school student, and an elementary school student. The staff were incredibly helpful from check-in through check-out, explained the facilities clearly, and were very accommodating to the kids despite this being a business hotel. The hotel was clean and comfortable. I chose the breakfast buffet hoping to try the smoothies, but they didn't feel very much like smoothies, which was a bit disappointing. The other food was delicious, though, and my eldest, who's in middle school, ate a lot even though he usually skips breakfast. Maybe it was like his mother's cooking? (lol) I've had better smoothies elsewhere, but I'd like to stay again if I get the chance.

The staff were attentive and greeted us with smiles at both check-in and check-out. I left thinking I honestly wanted to come back. We drove there easily, and free parking was a plus. Family Mart is next door, with Big Boy and Hama Sushi a short walk away, so getting food or picking up small things was convenient with kids. We stayed in a clean loft room with our two children, ages 8 and 6, who were thrilled by the bed and thought it was like a secret hideaway. It was simple but had what we needed to relax. Children under elementary school age can sleep in existing beds for free. Adult buffet breakfast costs 990 yen, and kids eat free. The selection wasn't huge, but the bread, salad, sausages, scrambled eggs, and other dishes were tasty and filling.
