The night sky was lovely and the outdoor terrace was pleasant, but the stay didn’t feel worth the price. There were a huge number of bugs in the room: insects were trapped and crushed in the roller blinds between rooms, there was a 5 cm spider in the toilet, along with little bugs, flies, and other insects. I wonder whether they do anything to prevent them. I know it’s in the mountains, but there’s a limit. Other mountain lodgings I’ve used didn’t have nearly this many. Bugs were also drawn to the window lights, so we couldn’t open the windows. The towels were said to be washed, but looked worn and heavily used. I think they should be replaced once they get worn. I’d booked for three families, but one group suddenly couldn’t come at noon on the day, so I contacted the inn right away. In the afternoon they told me everything was already prepared and they’d wanted notice by that morning. I’d called as soon as I knew, so I don’t know what else they expected me to do. After we arrived, they said they wished I’d told them sooner, since then they wouldn’t have prepared futons and could have processed a refund. The family that couldn’t come had already been charged, and hadn’t asked for a refund, so I didn’t understand why they were saying this to the family who was there. They told us to leave the dishes as they were. When I asked if I should wash them, they said no, the staff would wash them again, then added that 90% of guests wash their dishes. Was I supposed to wash them after all? The innkeeper seemed to go out of their way to say things that make both sides uncomfortable. I go to Nagano often, but I never want to stay here again.

I finished a 30 km ride on a rental bike from Pedal Terrace, and I’d love to try other courses next time. I was nervous about the downhill stretches and hadn’t ridden a mamachari in about ten years, but I had time to practice and soon enjoyed it. Taking unfamiliar roads and seeing new scenery made it feel like a long trip, which was refreshing. The bike’s electric assist got me safely back up the hills on the return. The mountain views and sights along the route were amazing, and lunch at a stylish restaurant on the way was delicious. Padded clothing might help keep your bottom from hurting on a long ride. Thanks for showing me around today.

My first time back on a bike in 28 years was a 30-kilometer Pedal House electric bicycle tour, after a friend invited me along. The hills felt a little scary when I started picking up speed, but I got used to them and enjoyed riding up and down while taking in the scenery. We had lovely weather and a pleasant breeze, and made it through the whole distance. Lunch was delicious, and we had a relaxed chat. Hearing our guide Akiko talk about her favorite places and what they meant to her was one of the highlights. Thank you!

Five of us friends stayed in a peaceful space, and we had a lovely time 🥰 The owner was wonderful and explained everything to us. I’d highly recommend staying here, and booking early.
