Kuma Lodge

Kuma Lodge is in a perfect spot in Madarao, just metres from the slopes. The team, Trent, Nicole, and Annie, provide next-level hospitality. Huge thanks to them, I couldn’t recommend the lodge more.

This is my second stay at Kuma this season. The location is amazing and the price is great. The family who owns it are awesome, very friendly, and happy to help.

My family and I spent three nights at Woodpecker Lodge, part of Kuma Lodge right next door. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and it’s so handy for the ski slopes, just as other reviews say. Anna and her team were wonderful, so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay and are definitely planning to return.

The skiing was great, with amazing snow and some excellent powder runs through the trees. We loved our visit so much that we’ve already booked for 2019 and can’t wait to return. We stayed at Kuma in January 2018 with our daughters, who were five and seven. The lodge is about 50 meters from the ski fields, with several bars and restaurants nearby. I don’t think there’s a better positioned lodge in Madarao. Inside, it was very clean, with modern furniture and high-quality linen, which isn’t always a given at Japanese ski fields. The staff were brilliant, lovely people who couldn’t do enough for us. I can’t speak highly enough of their service.
