The mornings were a treat, with a semi-buffet breakfast and a Japanese or Western main made to order. The ingredients were fresh and locally sourced, just right before a walk along the Kiso River. The whole place is full of little design stories: there’s an Inuyama Castle mural in each room, Yoyama lighting in the lounge and bar inspired by the Inuyama Festival floats, and a dramatic cormorant-fire painting behind reception that nods to the town’s ukai fishing. The baths and cozy shared spaces made it easy to relax after exploring. Hotel INDIGO Inuyama really brings the town’s spirit into the stay, through the culture, comfort, and storytelling. I’ve shared my full review and video on Instagram, Facebook, XHS or Tik Tok (@HAPPYLIZZIEEATS).

The room was huge and beautifully put together, and the view of Inuyama Castle in the evening light was breathtaking. Breakfast was delicious, nicely presented, and full of local flavors and ingredients. The staff were friendly and attentive, warm while still professional. We found the hotel calm and stylish, with high-end facilities and a real sense of comfort. It’s a lovely escape from the crowds, with Japanese charm and a modern feel. Best Hotel Indigo I’ve stayed at so far. I can’t wait to return.

We loved the hot springs, which felt modern and were much better than the older, more dated hotels we’d stayed at in Izu and Hakone. Our room looked onto the tea house garden, and we enjoyed hearing the birds, especially on a rainy Sunday. It was modern, clean, practical, and picturesque, our favorite room of the trip. We spent four days and three nights here, and the little details kept surprising me and making me smile. The location is great, just a short walk from the local station. We arrived at 2 p.m. and were able to get into the room before the usual 3 p.m. check-in, after a staff member invited us to sit while checking in. The colorful, pretty lobby was fun to photograph, though I hope my pictures show how artistic the architecture is. We’d like to come back and would definitely recommend it.

The grounds were lovely and peaceful, the food was delicious, and the staff were super friendly. Beautiful views too. I’ve been in Japan for three weeks, and this was one of my favorite hotels. Really well done. The scooters, though, weren’t fast enough for me.

Inuyama Castle, the Joan tea house, and the Kiso river are all right nearby, and the local fishermen’s ukai fishing with trained cormorants is an amazing sight if you catch it. After exploring the castle town, and maybe Cocotomo Farm, the garden, bar, and restaurant make nice places to relax and try local food. We loved staying at Hotel Indigo Inuyama, in this less-visited but highly recommended town where history, culture, and creativity come together. The hotel celebrates local traditions through regional produce in its dishes and handmade crafts and decor around the property. The rooms and service are top tier, with real care given to cleanliness, comfort, and small details. The warmth and pride of the local people came through in every interaction, and the hotel team looked after us so well. We’ll absolutely be back and highly recommend it for an authentic, memorable stay in Japan.
