Shin-Kaikatei Izumi

The rooms have beautiful sea views, and I’d recommend getting one with a private onsen on the balcony if you can. The public onsen also has an outdoor section overlooking the sea. Staff were super friendly and helpful. If the weather’s good, you can get great views of Mt. Fuji by walking about 20-25 minutes to the hotel’s left.

I felt really pampered here, from arrival right through checkout. The staff were so accommodating and friendly, and there were welcome drinks. It was peaceful, and the bus stops right in front of the inn, which was a plus for me. My room was big and had everything I needed. Such a beautiful spot when you want to relax and clear your head. I’d definitely stay again if I’m in Izu, Shizuoka.

We were cycling across Japan on our honeymoon and spent one night at Shinkaikate Izume. The staff made room for our bicycles and helped us find the Suruga Bay ferry in the morning. We arrived too late for dinner, but breakfast was exceptional and gave us energy for another day on the road. It was the best breakfast we had in Japan. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared, and we got to try dozens of delicacies and ask about them. I bet dinner is even better. The room was huge and luxurious, and in the morning we watched our ferry arrive from the gigantic, very hot private outdoor bath. We highly recommend Shin Kaikate Izume to Japanese and foreign visitors alike.

The location is great, close to Toi port and Toi gold mine, and the staff were helpful and friendly. They gave us a nice welcome drink and crème brûlée. The room was comfortable, though the TV was small, and the bed was more like a futon. I loved the hot spring tub on the balcony. Parking is a three-minute walk away rather than on site, which was a bit inconvenient. The restaurants were closed that day, so I can’t comment on them. There also isn’t much open late at night in this area.
