Shikisou Ryokan

A nice hot spring and a spacious, clean room.

The pork cutlet curry at lunch was tasty and filling. It was my first time trying a sauna, and I had a great time at this well-kept facility. Both the indoor and open-air baths felt good, with a nice temperature and good quality water. The sauna changing rooms were thoughtfully laid out and convenient.

The food was delicious, and I really liked the open-air bath. The entrance reminded me of a national lodging house, and after getting my room key on the second floor, I noticed a strong air freshener smell. There was a pet cage in the room, so I wondered if the scent was meant to cover pet odors. There's also a dog run on the second floor. They say the spring water is natural, but the notice says both the indoor and open-air baths use circulation. That was confusing to me, and I could smell chlorine. I don't really understand why natural hot spring water needs to be circulated for disinfection. It seems like a good hotel for people traveling with pets.

This place is amazing. I came for the hot springs and sauna while sightseeing, and honestly, it may be the best sauna facility I've ever visited. The sauna is high quality, and the cold bath is 160 cm deep at about 11.0°C, which is incredibly relaxing. You can walk around barefoot without worrying, and the cold bath area looks stylish lit up at night. I'd give the service about seven stars. They have all-you-can-drink alcohol and curry in the morning, which is so convenient. You do pay extra for the dried daikon radish kimchi, but I think it's a must-try snack with drinks. The only thing is, it's a bit of a walk from the station. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular!
