The room was roomy and clean, and it’s conveniently near Kagosima Chuo station. Just be aware there’s no elevator, only stairs, up to the fourth floor.
It’s about a five-minute walk to the central station, with useful shops nearby, including a Don Quijote. I could feel the subway vibrations because it’s so close. The owner was also very helpful when I realized after leaving that I couldn’t find my belongings, and I was grateful for the help searching for them. My second-floor room had a café feel, though the ceiling looked unfinished and exposed. That didn’t affect my stay. It was well equipped with a washer-dryer, separate bathroom and toilet, a wardrobe and clothes rack, plus a kitchen with a microwave, coffee grinder, and even coffee beans. The lighting was a bit dim, and there’s no elevator.
Just a five-minute walk from Kagoshima Central Station, and the room was spacious with a washer/dryer. The location is great.
There’s a Don Quijote right next door, and a nearby parking lot charges by time at a low rate, which is handy. The place is good value, with modern rooms that feel like designer apartments. I was impressed by the large laundry machine mounted horizontally in the room. It hardly feels like Kagoshima, in a good way. Check-in and checkout are completely unmanned, so it can be confusing at first. Also, there’s no elevator, just stairs, so keep that in mind, lol.
The location made getting around easy. It’s very close to Kagoshima Chuo Station and the tram, and I got there quickly on foot after taking the airport limousine bus to the station. There’s a Lawson, a 7-Eleven, and a family restaurant along the way; a little farther in the other direction is a Super Taiyo. Local supermarkets are fun to browse, and they sell inexpensive chicken sashimi, so I’d say go check it out. Having a washing machine in the room was really useful, and I couldn’t hear other guests at all, so running the noisy dryer at night might be fine. There’s enough room to hang laundry, though a hanger with clothespins for small things would have helped. The bathroom is spacious, the tub fills automatically, and even though I had to sit on the floor because there was no chair, the room was warm and the floor wasn’t cold. I also appreciated the extension cord by the bed for charging my phone. With no meals included, I got to eat lots of delicious local food, which was easier than having mediocre hotel meals. My biggest issue was the cleaning. The ventilation fans were incredibly dusty, lint had built up in the washing machine’s rubber seals, and the mirror had stubborn marks from wiping. The detergent provided was for regular and delicate laundry, not fabric softener, so bring your own if you want softer clothes. The switches weren’t labeled, perhaps because of the stylish design, and I kept pressing the wrong ones. Both the entrance and room doors use keypads. The numbers on the outside door were worn, making the code easy to guess, and I think it should be changed regularly. There are only stairs, and they’re steep, especially the incline just inside the outside door. The bathroom had no washbasin or chair, and I had to sit on the floor. I came from Hokkaido at the end of October. It was warm enough to sweat outside in short sleeves during the day, but indoors at night it was incredibly cold. The building may not be well insulated for colder weather because of the tropical climate. The smooth sheets and blankets felt cold against my skin, and I wished there’d been a towel blanket or something similar. The bed was so soft I sank into it and had trouble sleeping. The refrigerator was noisy enough to keep me awake, so earplugs are a good idea. I think better cleaning would make this place much higher rated. I’d still like to stay here again if I go to Kagoshima.
