We booked a room with a private onsen and gorgeous views over the local town and mountains. From our room we could see the zao onsen sky lights. The room and amenities were fantastic, including the relaxation areas and banquet halls, and breakfast was delicious. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, and they even gave my wife and me a lovely parting gift. The building, atmosphere, and service made for an amazing ryokan experience. Highly recommend staying here.

We were greeted attentively as soon as we arrived, and the staff took care of our car and luggage. The futons and blankets were cozy, and we had a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was served in a private room and everything was local. There's also a small lounge where coffee and tea are available at certain times during the day. A beautiful, relaxing ryokan experience.

So far, Hamayakan is my favorite ryokan. The room is spacious and charming, and the staff and food are great. The standout is the private hinoki tub, supplied straight from the spring with 100% pure, undiluted onsen water. That's rare, even in Japan. There's also a horigotatsu by the window that made winter feel super cozy.

The private onsen in our room and the public one were both great. The staff were really friendly and attentive, and they arranged a shuttle to the station for us spontaneously. The facility itself is amazing. This is my favorite ryokan so far, and I'll stay here again if I visit the area.

The view over town was beautiful, especially once the lights came on in the evening, and it more than made up for the room showing its age in places. The room was spacious, cozy, and comfortable. The place has an old-school charm and is a little dated, but the incredibly friendly, welcoming staff make a big difference. You can request a shuttle from Kaminoyama Onsen Station, and the driver arrived right on time holding a hotel sign, so there was no missing them.
