We booked SATSUKI room, which was spacious and looked over a pond and the countryside beyond. The bed is fixed in place, with a medium-firm mattress on the tatami, so you can nap whenever you like without setting up or putting away bedding. Our rate included a great breakfast and dinner, mostly Yonesawa beef prepared in different ways, including Sukiyaki. Drinks like wine, sake and whiskey are all-you-can-drink, ordered on an iPad and promptly brought in small cups. The public bath has a large indoor pool and two outdoor options, one wooden and one small stone bath with countryside views. It wasn't busy, and I usually had the bath to myself. Staff were attentive and tried to communicate through our Google Translate chats. Parking is plentiful but uncovered. There's no laundry service, though a self-service place is ten minutes away if you need it. You can walk down a back road behind the property from the main road, past lovely fields with a view of the hotel's rear. The website mentions wine in the Lounge, but I didn't see any. It's just a small area beside a passage, with no English magazines, and I never used it.

The staff were lovely and went out of their way to help. Both dinner and breakfast were carefully prepared and delicious, and the rooms were large and clean. Our room didn't have a shower, since guests are expected to bathe in the onsen area, which was clean and spacious. There was one indoor bath for men and two smaller ones outside. My only disappointment was the setting: I expected a remote onsen town in the hills, but the hotel is very close to a main road. You don't really notice it once indoors, but keep it in mind if you're after a secluded escape.

The onsen was such a relaxing place to soak, with lovely mountain views, especially at dawn and dusk. We had a wonderful stay at Sagiya Sansorai, thanks to the outstanding service and staff and the high-quality food. We're so glad we chose it and will recommend it to our friends and family.

We were on an all-inclusive half-board plan and loved both the renovated room and the food. The staff were waiting across the road to welcome arriving guests, and everyone, from reception to the restaurant team, seemed genuinely appreciative of our visit. We nearly missed the entrance the first time. Google Maps may take you to the address, but the building is reached from a road perpendicular to the main one. Luckily, we spotted the parking sign and turned left.
