HATCHi Kanazawa - Hostel

The basement has a shared lounge where you can cook and hang out, while the cafe downstairs is a little pricey. I liked the free towels and toothbrush, and the lockers don’t need a key. The beds were comfortable, the showers were amazing, with a waterfall style, and the place felt new and very clean. One of the best hotels I stayed at in Japan, highly recommended.

The shared bathroom for the private rooms was so good that my wife and I wished we had a shower like it at home. The hostel looks amazing, has great facilities and a fun vibe, and everything was really clean. Our room was comfortable, too. Fantastic value for money, easily one of the best hostels we’ve stayed in. If you get the chance, stay here for sure!

We spent two nights here as a family of four, with kids aged 15 and 18, and liked trying a different kind of lodging. It was great value compared with the older hotels nearby, and everything was well maintained. The private shower rooms are excellent, and the shared kitchen and dining space worked well for making breakfast or dinner together. Each person gets a bunk space about 4'x7', with a small locker, mattress, pillow, light blanket, and privacy curtain. Sleeping was pretty comfortable, and the 10-bed rooms were quiet all the time. The hostel is cool, clean, and feels nearly new, with all the amenities in a great location. The prices are remarkably reasonable, around 2000-3000 yen per person. We paid $91 a night for four through Expedia during high season. We parked one block away for 1000 yen per 24 hours, with overnight parking nearby for 200 yen. There are two bike-share stations within a block, where you can rent a bike for 200 yen per day, and you could ride from the train station. Plenty of restaurants, parks, gardens, and museums are walkable too.

There’s a locker inside each cubicle, big enough for a large backpack, with a reprogrammable keypad so you don’t need a separate lock. You also get a lamp, outlets, mattress, pillow, blanket, and towel. The 20-person room feels surprisingly cosy because curtains divide and enclose the bunks. The hostel offers shared and private rooms in different sizes, and free towels, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. The downstairs cafe is great, with a 5% discount for guests. Shared showers are in the basement, which also has a stylish lounge and kitchen.
