With just three rooms, it felt as though we had the whole place to ourselves. Each spacious, clean room was luxurious and had its own spring-water onsen. I’m no ryokan expert, but this was the best one we’ve ever visited. The service was impeccable, and everyone was so friendly. Our room opened onto a local stream, and soaking in the private onsen while spotting deer, raccoons, and cranes was magical. The ryokan is tucked away on a quiet road near the head of the 7 Waterfalls, so it was convenient to walk there. The in-room meals were a highlight. Both breakfast and dinner were special feasts, with fine-dining-quality food, seasonal local ingredients, and creative touches. We especially appreciated how carefully they handled our food allergies. I’d gladly return and highly recommend it.
