We found the surroundings beautiful, with a walk to the lookout for views of the blue sea and rugged coastline, and stargazing at night. Our two-night stay was so relaxing that we’d like to come back in winter. The room was large, stylish, and recently renovated, and the lounge was nice too. The indoor bath was small but very relaxing. We stayed in early August. Our train was delayed and there was a tsunami warning, so we arrived late. The staff kindly picked us up at Kesennuma station. Everyone was friendly, and we had some nice conversations with a female staff member who spoke English. The food, including the buffet and sashimi, was plentiful and tasty. Highly recommended.

The location facing the sea is lovely, and there are several nice trails and hikes along the coast beside the hotel on Ohshima island, with lots of places to take pictures. Dinner and breakfast were both high quality. It’s a very old-school Ryokan. I’d especially like to thank the receptionist who was working when I checked in on the night of 14th January. He couldn’t speak English, but did his best with translation and even printed translated documents for us. That helped my wife and me join the 8 pm stargazing tour, even though we were the only ones signed up.

The ocean-view location was amazing, and I ate my fill at the half-buffet. On a walk near the hotel I spotted fireflies, and the starry sky was surprisingly beautiful too. I stayed last summer and had such a fun time that I’m finally writing a review. I’d love to come back...

The food was excellent, and the evening activities were fun. My room was a clean, spacious 10-tatami Japanese-style room with a toilet, which I thought was great. I usually sit in a chair, so getting up was a bit difficult, and having a chair would have helped. The Wi-Fi seemed quite slow in the room, perhaps because it was on the third floor.

The rooms have individual air conditioning, so you can apparently set the temperature you like. But every time I visit, the food seems more basic and it wasn’t very filling. The large public bath is quite small, with the men’s bath full at just four people. Trees have overgrown the view from the room, so there isn’t much ocean to see.
