One of the town's cheapest places, about a 20 minute walk from the station. It was clean and decent, and the capsule-style setup gave me a bit of privacy. The only small snag was that the men's toilet is on another floor.

I chose this hotel just to watch the Yosakoi festival. It was clean, and the price was great for anyone mainly looking for somewhere cheap to sleep. The men's restroom being downstairs was a little inconvenient. Noise is another thing to consider: you may hear other guests, and people bothered about making noise themselves might not feel comfortable. The bar-like place on the building's first floor is apparently completely separate from TAO.
I booked it as a place to sleep after sightseeing, and the interior was clean, warm, and pleasant. The bathroom and shower room, which weren't shown in the pictures, were spacious, comfortable, and well maintained. The host was very kind too. It's a walkable distance from a tram stop, though quite far from JR station, so with a JR All Shikoku Rail Pass or My U Bus Pass, taking the tram and getting off nearby is recommended. I was a little concerned about the mixed-gender setup, but on the night I stayed there were just two of us, one man and me, and we were considerate and kept things quiet :)
Typhoon No. 10 was approaching, so we had to cancel our trip. They handled it very kindly. If I get the chance to visit Kochi Prefecture, I'd definitely like to stay here again.
The restaurant's owner was very unreasonable, and the customers there were making a lot of noise outside until late at night. It was really annoying.
