Hotel Town Honmachi

Handy location.

The hotel is conveniently located, and the partner lot, Times Toei Parking, is just east of it. Parking there costs money, but they give you a QR code receipt to pay, so finding a spot during your stay shouldn't be a problem. It would be useful if the hotel mentioned this partner lot when people make a reservation.

I booked a double room on the third floor for February 2026, mainly because I needed a bath, laundry, and a gym. I was in Kochi for the marathon, and most hotels were full with prices shooting up, in some cases to three times the usual rate. This place was near the starting point and still reasonably priced, which I was very grateful for. The start near the prefectural office is about a 10-15 minute walk away. It's also central enough for sightseeing. The room was cramped even for a double, since the bed took up most of the space. Mine was a corner room with sunlight and nothing blocking the view, though there wasn't anything special to look at. Wi-Fi measured 190Mbps during the day, but dropped to around 10Mbps at night when more guests were around. The bathtub was extremely narrow and short. At 175cm tall, I had to bend my legs quite a bit, almost like being in a Jomon tomb. Hot water and pressure were good. The bed was somewhat hard, and the small fridge could only fit one 2-liter bottle. There was no security box. Outlets were by the desk and bedside, with three hangers. No balcony. There was a TV, hair dryer, and toothbrush. I didn't notice noise from outside or nearby rooms. There's no gym. The coin laundry has one machine, washing costs ¥300 and drying ¥100/30 minutes. I didn't need cleaning, so I can't say about that, but towels were replaced. I booked room only, and there was nothing in particular to complain about with the staff. The hotel isn't stylish or sleek, so it may suit a man traveling alone better. I wasn't especially keen to stay here, but would consider it if other options were gone. Getting here from Kochi Airport takes about 25 minutes on the limousine bus to Kita-Harimayabashi Bridge, then around a 10-minute walk. It's a 20-minute walk or 15-minute tram ride from JR Kochi Station. Mainichiya Ohashi-dori Branch is about seven minutes away on foot, with lots of prepared food and drinks; Hirome Market is right in front of that store. There are also two 7-Eleven stores near the hotel. Cross the streetcar tracks to the north and you're in Obiyacho, Kochi's downtown, with restaurants and souvenir shops, including Hirome Market. Myojinmaru Obiyacho Branch is popular for reasonably priced seared bonito set meals, but reservations are needed since lines form as soon as it opens. For inexpensive drinks, Hitokuchi Gyoza no Cho next door is a better bet than Hirome Market, especially at happy hour.

It makes sense if location and price matter most. The hotel is near downtown and reasonably priced. My room had no washlet, and the bathtub was about shoulder-width. TV noise and footsteps from next door carried loudly, and I could feel the building shake when the neighbors moved.
