Route Inn Grantia Komaki

It's a beautiful, large hotel, and the breakfast is good. It's a long way from the main town, so pick up any supplies you need in advance. There's a small LAWSONS across the road, a bit farther along.

The rooms are cheap, and our stay came with a Tripadeal tour, so keep expectations low and it should be fine. The layout feels strange, with sloping halls and rooms that vary in size. I'm not sure, but the building seems like a repurposed shopping centre or car park, and the walls are paper thin. It was uncomfortable and noisy. I woke several times during the night just from people moving around in other rooms. The hotel sits between industrial warehouses, truck stops, and a 'river' that seems to be mostly runoff from those properties.

There are plenty of parking spaces and a big onsen, and the price is reasonable. It's in the middle of nowhere, apart from a 7-11 about a five minute walk away. There are lots of restaurants a short drive from the hotel, though. We ate at the hotel restaurant because we didn't want to drive after dark. The food was standard Route Inn restaurant fare, and I always love their curry. I think Route Inn bought and rebranded an older hotel, so it's a little different from other Route Inns.

The facilities are very nice, but there's no communal bath, which is an essential part of staying in Japan. This building is probably much bigger than the other hotels operated by the Route Inn group because they acquired it.
