We spent one night here and had dinner with drinks paired to each course, including champagne, wine, beer, and nihonshu. The meal was very nice, and breakfast was good too. Drinks at the cafe are free, as is the alcohol in your room except for champagne. The hotel has only five rooms, all in a building more than 100 years old. We had the smallest room, but it was still spacious, with incredible interiors and furnishings. The service was excellent. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back.

My husband and I spent a night at Nipponia and really enjoyed the attention to detail. The houses, more than 100 years old, have been renovated with real care, and the amenities and outdoor goemon bath were lovely. Staff welcomed us warmly, shared the story of each room in a nice booklet, and gave us recommendations for the area. Highly recommended, and thank you!

Uetmasu is an old house refurbished and modernized for guests, so it doesn’t feel like a ryokan in that sense. The Google Maps location takes you to the reception and cafe house, with the different accommodations spread around it. There are no phones or TVs, but the Wi-Fi worked really well, and there were lots of free drinks, including umesu. The deep bath was great for a soak, and the heating worked well. Everything else worked nicely too. Just mind your head on the low ceiling beams, and be aware that some roads are very narrow if you're driving. It was a unique and enjoyable stay.

The staff were very friendly, and it was an easy place to find in town, not far from the station. This Japanese hotel has been put together with care, with lots of attention to detail to make a stay feel cozy and pleasant. I'd gladly come back and recommend it.
