Kyoto Guesthouse Oyado KEI

I wish we'd had more than two nights here. The traditional Japanese townhouse is well placed for getting around Kyoto, and the host was the best I've stayed with. She was so kind and went out of her way to look after us, doing our laundry, making the beds, and giving us lots of recommendations for places and for our next travels. I really wish I knew her name. Thank you so much, and I'd highly recommend staying here.

The owner stopped by on the day we visited and told us where we could see a nice sakura view. We got tons of great photos thanks to her. It was a lovely experience staying in a Japanese-style house.

We only wish we'd planned to stay longer around Kyoto. This was a great place to set up camp, tucked into a very quiet little residential street but only a couple of minutes from subway and bus connections, shops, restaurants, and more. The host was welcoming, kind, and informative, and her English was excellent. The machiya is a modernized traditional Kyoto townhouse that feels lived in, rather than restored to a deluxe standard. A good choice if you're after an authentic machiya experience.

We had a very welcoming stay. The host was kind and shared plenty of Kyoto tips and information, and chatting in English was easy. I'd definitely recommend this guesthouse for a genuine Kyoto experience.
