Rakuten STAY Kyoto Station

We spent nine nights at Rakuten Stay Kyoto Station and had a comfortable, pleasant stay. It was clean, well maintained, and had what we needed at a budget-friendly price. We'd been concerned by earlier comments about noise, but what we heard was minimal, just occasional normal traffic. The room was compact but practical, with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a small clean bathroom. The shower had good pressure and the bidet worked well. We got fresh towels every day. The decor was simple, and the room also had a kettle, mini-fridge, and reliable Wi-Fi. Public transport, Kyoto Train station, and convenience stores were all close by. Rakuten Stay Kyoto is a good affordable, convenient option. It's not luxury, but the value was excellent, and I'd stay here again.

The staff were friendly and really helpful when we checked in, especially a woman at the front desk. The hotel is conveniently located less than a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station, with plenty of places to eat and shopping malls nearby. Our room was surprisingly spacious and clean, and even the bathroom was large. The toilet is separate from the bathroom and bathtub. I'd highly recommend Hotel Rakuten Stay Kyoto to visitors.

The room had plenty of space for our luggage and a small table for supper. The bathroom and tub were roomy too, and everything I needed was there. I also liked that it was keyless, so I didn't have to worry about losing or looking for a key. It's about a five-minute walk from the station, with a big 7-11 nearby for supper on the way back each night. The lobby shop is worth a mention too. The strawberries I bought there were really sweet, and the staff were so nice and friendly. I enjoyed my stay! :)

The rooms are a reasonable size, the hotel is fairly near Kyoto Station, and it's cheap. That's about all the good I can say. Check-in was cumbersome, and they asked for more personal information than most places do. The rooms looked clean at first, but when we moved the beds, we found fake nails, used earbuds, and a rice ball underneath. You have to specifically ask for room cleaning, while fresh towels arrive every day whether you want them or not. We ended up with a comical pile by the end of the stay. Road noise came through the thin curtains, and the busy intersection meant emergency vehicles with sirens passed several times a day. Unless you're a heavy sleeper, expect to be woken up repeatedly at night. The mattresses were quite firm, almost uncomfortable for us. A mattress topper option would be nice, even at a budget hotel. If I return to Kyoto, I'd pay a bit more for somewhere quiet, clean, and comfortable.
