Zen Kyoto Apartment Hotel

The staff were really friendly, and they let us leave our luggage at the hotel when we arrived early. The train station is very close, though it takes about 5-10 minutes on foot to find a convenience store. Our room was spacious and clean, with a washing machine, large shower, small kitchen, and private little balcony. I liked it enough to book an extra night, which I rarely do since I usually move on every night to try different places. I didn’t see a drink or food vending machine. There’s a small bar/café, but during my stay cocktails weren’t available, just a few things like juice or coffee. Still, it was a great experience and one of my best stays in Japan this year.

The room worked really well for two adults and two teens. It was modern and comfortable, with a walk-in wardrobe that saved space and gave us somewhere to put our cases. Reception were friendly and helpful, and we’d stay here again on another Kyoto trip. It’s a quiet area, and the subway is only a five-minute flat walk away. From there, it’s just a couple of stops to Kyoto main station. There’s a convenience store within a reasonable walk, and the area felt safe. The room came with shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, a razor, cotton wipes, complimentary water, and washing machine liquid sachets. The washer worked great, especially the quick wash setting. We also used the shower room’s drying mode to dry clothes overnight or while we were out. When we needed another sachet of washing powder, reception provided one.

The rooms were spacious, spotless, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help. The hotel is just outside central Kyoto and close to public transport, which made it a great choice. We had a wonderful stay and left feeling completely refreshed. Highly recommended!

The room was uncomfortable, with a bed that didn’t feel good to sleep on and AC that barely cooled. They also leave the room uncleaned unless you’re staying more than five days, and nobody even takes out the trash. The nearest convenience store is a seven-minute walk away. I wouldn’t recommend this place for families with kids. There are hotels near Kyoto Station at about the same price that seem better.
