Business Hotel Ojiro

I won’t stay here again. I also had a lot of smaller complaints: the hotel sign had no lighting, the rooms were dark, there was no foot mat, the laundromat was outside, and there weren’t any nearby stores. The bigger issue was how little attention they seemed to pay to security. I stayed two nights, left my key at the front desk in the morning, then came back that evening to find my bath towel and key already in the room. That gave me the impression that anyone could enter and take whatever they wanted just because the guest was out. Even if they’re trying to reduce labor costs, a hotel should have at least some basic awareness of security.

Booked through a reservation site and got a low price, even on weekends and holidays. Parking was free too. There’s no hairdryer, so bring one if you need it, and the bed mattress is hard. Slippers are available, though you can skip them if you don’t mind going without. For the price, it’s definitely worth it (lol).

Makinohara City was giving out regional promotion coupons through next January, I think, and I got 3,000 yen worth. We drove to Sushi Masa, used them there, and had some delicious sushi. The room itself was roomy and clean, the bed was just the right firmness for me, and the air conditioner looked new. No hairdryer, so bring your own. I was very satisfied and would definitely stay again.

They used to say there wasn’t a hairdryer, but it looks like they’ve started providing one. Being so close to the sea and still inexpensive makes this seem like a great fit for solo travelers. I’m really grateful they’re still operating at this price in times like these.
