Dinner was a real highlight, with a huge range of dishes and extraordinary crab. My room was spotless and had a big balcony where I could relax and take in the view. They also offered a washing machine and detergent for free, which came in handy. The owners even drove me to the nearest JR station. This was my first visit to Matsue, and I chose to stay in Mihonoseki without expecting much from the location. Fukumakan Ryokan really impressed me. It has a humble feel but is run very professionally, and you can sense the owner’s passion in the details. I felt like I was with family and already miss them. I’d love to come back.

The hospitality was wonderful, and everyone was friendly and helpful with whatever we needed, including a pickup service from the airport. The ryokan is incredibly traditional, and the seafood is brought in fresh by the boats you can watch from your own terrace. I’d recommend trying both the onsen and the meals. I came with my mother and we were welcomed warmly. The rooms were large and quiet, and we had a great ocean view with amazing scenery in this small village near Matsue. Unfortunately, I had to leave early for medical reasons.

We stayed in a beautiful old fisherman’s house and loved it. Fukuma-san and his wife were wonderful hosts, and the seafood dinner was great. We also got a free boat ride around the bay. We’d go back in a heartbeat.
