The onsen hours were a major disappointment. It was open only five hours a day, and that limit hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. The rooms also get extremely cold at night. The only heating option was a kerosene heater with such a strong smell that it felt suffocating and even unsafe, so we couldn’t use it. Breakfast was minimal, just toast and coffee, and dinner wasn’t satisfying either: only three dishes to choose from, while a full Japanese meal is available only if reserved in advance. Worst of all, we’d arranged with a staff member to use the onsen in the morning just to shower before our 11 o’clock checkout. While we were still showering, a female staff member suddenly came in yelling at us to leave. This place doesn’t know how to treat guests with respect. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

You’ll need a car to get here, but it’s a lovely choice if you want some peace and quiet. The owners really look after their guests and go out of their way to help. It was very clean, the food was great, and the onsen was good too.

We came for a group holiday, but this place wasn’t ready to host a group. There was no hot water and the onsen was very cold. 👎👎👎

The food was good, but the service was bad. The staff weren’t approachable, and the place itself wasn’t that nice. The male staff didn’t know how to knock properly before coming to the door. Wouldn’t recommend it, felt like a waste of money.

The owners were so welcoming and sweet, and their cat was really friendly too. It’s a lovely chalet, with a nice open-air bath.
