Ryokan Tokiwaso

We're here for two nights and it's been fantastic. The room is huge and very comfortable, and the food is delicious. They've made us feel really at ease.

The team are kind and helpful, and the breakfast is tasty. It's a lovely place with great attention to detail, right by the Dogo onsen main building. I'd love to come back.

I had dinner brought to my room and could take my time eating. The fish dishes were all incredibly good, from sashimi to simmered and fried fish, and the specialty sea bream rice left me very satisfied. The inn staff were all kind and friendly, and the whole stay made for a wonderful trip. I was traveling alone, and the Taisho era wooden building had a relaxing atmosphere. The renovated interior was clean and tidy. There are only four rooms, so it's quiet, though outside noise and voices do carry. It gets quiet at night, so sleeping wasn't a problem. The shared toilets are new and have bidet functions. There's just one hot spring bath. When it was available, I could use it privately, which let me relax and enjoy it four times. It was fantastic!

The local seafood and mountain produce made dinner a real treat. The flavors were wonderful and not too salty. I chose the dinner-only plan because I don't eat much in the morning, but the smell of grilled fish at breakfast made me wish I'd included it. Next time I visit Dogo Onsen, I'll have breakfast there too. I arrived later than planned for my solo stay and was welcomed warmly. The building is old, but the interior was very clean, with every corner carefully tidied. The stairs are quite steep, so that might be a concern for some. The inn is close to Dogo Onsen, especially the main building. They provided warm yukatas and haori jackets, plus plenty of amenities, which helped me enjoy the hot spring resort. Nakai-san and his team were thoughtful, and I had a truly wonderful stay. Thank you very much.
