We had a fantastic stay at Michiyo's lovely, charming home. It's definitely an older place, but that didn't bother us at all. I especially liked the shower room and came away with lots of ideas for our own bathroom renovation. It was sweet to see Michiyo fit looking after her boys around hosting guests from all over the world. Maggie, a volunteer from America, was the icing on the cake. She was helping Michiyo while getting to experience Japan, and we became friends. The house is super close to Mima City Traditional Craft Experience Center Mirai Kobo Studio, where we learned to make mini wagasa the next day. Michiyo hadn't suggested that workshop, but she and Maggie had recommended plenty of other nearby ones. We went back to show Michiyo what we'd made so she could tell other tourists about it. She's a great host with lots of ideas and information. I'm sorry we missed the window to share this on Air BnB!

The manager was friendly and happy to suggest places and shops nearby. I also liked that they stay open over long weekends and New Year's holidays whenever guests are booked, which is great for people who love to travel. I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area. I was concerned the low rate might mean a run-down guesthouse, but the place was wonderful and surpassed what I expected. My renovated room had an antique feel and plenty of space, with a bedroom and living room. I stayed in the annex, while the showers are apparently only in the main building, a 2-3 minute walk away. For about 3400 yen per person, having showers at all felt like a great deal.

The rooms were great, and the facilities were really nice (*^_^*). Since it used to be a ryokan, it has that going for it, and the rates were reasonable. The owner was very friendly!!! The one downside was another guest who kept clicking their tongue, fidgeting, and tapping loudly on a laptop for no reason. It was all the same person lol. Since this is both a residence and accommodation, I couldn't bring myself to say anything to their face, lol.

I was passing through and stopped for a look. The entrance was fairly easy to spot, and I was able to look around inside. It's a charming guesthouse in the countryside with a great location. I'll check it out next time.

It looked like a nice place and caught my interest, so I went in to ask about it. Unfortunately, nobody was home. I tried asking the neighbors too, but they didn't know anything. What a shame.
